How long will I be in counselling?

Your fee depends on the kinds of services you request. Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, however, it is covered by most insurance companies. A sliding scale is in effect.  Fees are negotiated and based on an individual's circumstances.

FAQs

How long and how many times a week is a typical session?

What if I want couples counselling, but my partner won't come?

Sessions are usually 60 minutes. Most clients are seen once or twice a week in the beginning, then, as time goes on, less frequently. The number of sessions depends on what your current needs are.

How much are your Fees and do you take insurance?

The length of time a client is in counselling depends the nature of the problem and the goals of the counselling. Some clients have a very specific problem that can be worked through in a set course of counselling. For others, counselling is an on-going learning process and they choose to receive counselling for a longer period.

Unfortunately, sometimes one partner is not as willing as the other to come in for counselling. A relationship can be improved with just one person involved in counselling.

Counsellors and therapists are not legally allowed to prescribe medications. Based on an assessment of the problems you are facing, it may be advisable to consult with a psychiatrist to determine whether medication is warranted.  We can refer you to one if necessary. We can also consult with a psychiatrist on your behalf.
